A councillor has been arrested on suspicion of encouraging murder after comments at a counter-protest in London this week.
Dartford councillor Ricky Jones was suspended from the Labour Party after a video circulated on social media showing a man telling a crowd that ‘fascists’ should have their throats cut.
It appears to show him saying: ‘They are disgusting Nazi fascists and we need to cut all their throats and get rid of them all.’
Responding to the video on X on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Officers have arrested a man aged in his 50s at an address in South East London.
‘He was held on suspicion of encouraging murder and for an offence under the Public Order Act.’
