West Northamptonshire Council is looking to appoint a temporary Drug and Alcohol Commissioner.
To support its drug and alcohol misuse services, the local authority is seeking a candidate on an interim basis to help minimise harm and offer rehabilitative care to those struggling with substance misuse.
According to Cllr Andrew Last, cabinet member for HR and corporate services, the service supports roughly 1,800 adults, as well as 100 children and young people at one time.
The role will provide support beyond that which is available through the NHS, with the local authority revealing that the hiring process for a permanent candidate would be too lengthy and delay vital work.
The salary for the position could surpass £100,000, subsidised by ringfenced grants from Public Health.
Cllr Last said: ‘Due to the departure of the previous Commissioner six months prior to the tender process, there was an urgent need to secure specialist commissioning expertise to ensure continuity and compliance and service delivery.
He added: ‘The day rate for this interim role is in line with market averages for the level of specialist experience required.’
