Bradford Council is aiming to save £1.6m by transforming customer services and contact management with voice and robotic process automation.
The cash-strapped council has set out 47 proposals to save a potential £33.84m for the financial year 2025-26.
The council has a five-year plan to become ‘financially sustainable’ which requires it to deliver around £40m of additional savings and increased income each year over that period.
It hopes to raise £400,000 by increasing garden waste charges and save £138,000 on street lighting costs by further reducing and dimming LED streetlights.
The local authority also plans to introduce additional enforcement sites to ease road congestion and reduce accidents on highways, which it estimates will raise £580,000.
Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, leader of Bradford Council, said: ‘We have to make significant savings and are doing all we can to achieve them through efficiencies, innovation, finding better ways of working and maximising our income rather than service reductions.’
