Council grant funding increases by £2.4bn

Whitehall revenue grant funding to local authorities was up by £2.4bn last month, the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed.

The increase brought the monthly total of ‘payments to support the day-to-day running of local government' in July to £13.9bn while over the financial year the total support was up by £4.9bn to £54.2bn.
