Council funding crisis ‘existential’

Local government’s funding crisis threatens to derail ambitions to level up the north of England, it has been claimed.

Speaking at a Convention of the North fringe event, chief executive of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership think-tank, Henri Murison said more focus was needed on tackling councils’ financial issues through fiscal devolution.
