Kirklees Council demonstrated a ‘lack of consideration’ towards a teacher who faced harassment for showing a cartoon of the prophet Muhammad, Government’s social cohesion advisor says.

In a forthcoming report, Dame Sara Khan will criticise the agencies involved in the 2021 Batley Grammar School incident for not properly supporting the teacher who felt ‘totally isolated’, ‘abandoned’ and ‘suicidal’.

It also accuses Kirklees Council of demonstrating a ‘lack of consideration’ for him and his family.

A Kirklees Council spokesperson said: ‘The council has fully engaged with the review over the past two years and gave evidence to it. We will look carefully at the recommendations and any lessons to be learned by the government, councils and partner organisations.’
