Dorset Council has bought two parcels of brownfield land as part of its plans to regenerate Weymouth’s waterfront economy.
The two plots of land to the west of Weymouth Marina join three other sites in the council’s property portfolio.
Dorset said the acquisitions would help it realise its ambitions to regenerate the harbour area.
It was awarded £19.5m in levelling up funding for the plans last year.
Corporate director for assets and regeneration Tim Hulme said: ‘Weymouth is already a fantastic place and is home to many attractive and unique features, but we recognise that it does need investment to create a more diverse, thriving town.
‘The addition of these prime development sites to our property portfolio will help us to achieve that by acting as a catalyst to attract future investment and boosting economic productivity.’
The sites will now be secured before plans for redevelopment are made.
