Westminster City Council has apologised to Millwall FC after the club's badge was featured on an image of a Ku Klux Klan robe in an educational booklet.

The booklet was about the history of racism in football and was distributed as an educational tool to local schools.

A council spokesperson described the depiction as an ‘insensitive way to illustrate the historic problem of racism within football’ and confirmed the booklet has been removed from circulation.

‘We have apologised to Millwall Football Club for the improper use of their logo and for any offence caused,’ they said.

The Millwall Supporters' Club reportedly said the club had received a full apology, adding that the material had created a ‘false and damaging image’ of the club.
