North Somerset Council is facing disruptions to its recycling services due to a lack of staff and machinery issues.

In a social media statement posted yesterday, the council revealed it was unable to carry out all recycling collections as usual.

The local authority listed heavy goods vehicle (HGV) ‘driver shortages’, a machinery breakdown and the hot weather as the obstacles to efficient service delivery.

‘Crews will try to catch up tomorrow. If your collection was due today, please leave your containers out. Some collections may still be missed’, the statement said.

The council issued an apology for any inconvenience caused and confirmed that updates about the disruptions will be posted regularly on its website, in addition to the North Somerset Council app and Facebook page.

It is also noted on the local authority's website that collections for food, recycling and garden waste could be impacted for the duration of August due to the lack of HGV drivers.
