A local authority has apologised after all the vehicles in a car park were mistakenly issued with fines.

The error occurred after a decision was wrongly taken to close off an entire High Wycombe car park rather than just a small area where EV chargers were being installed.

Buckinghamshire Council has confirmed that all of the drivers affected will have their tickets cancelled.

RAC spokesman Simon Williams said: ‘While the council should be commended for accepting its mistake and cancelling all the penalty charge notices, this should never have happened in the first place.

‘Even though the council has acted quickly, every driver concerned will have had to go through the horrible of feeling of finding a black and yellow plastic envelope on their windscreen and thinking it was going to cost them money even though they had no doubt paid to park there.'
