Council apologises for electoral registration forms ‘printing error’

A council has apologised to residents after a printing error led to personal details being sent to the wrong addresses.

Bath and North East Somerset Council sent out electoral registration forms to a number of properties in one postcode area that had the wrong details on page two of the form.

‘We have had a few calls today from residents about their electoral household enquiry form saying the details on page two did not match their address,’ said Maria Lucas, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s electoral registration officer, on Monday when the error came to light.

‘I would like to apologise to all residents affected and reassure them that steps are being taken to put this right and that their data on the register, cannot be accessed by anyone else.’

Ms. Lucas said the mistake was the result of ‘machine error’ and reassured people living outside the BS39 postcode area that their forms were not affected.
