Nottingham City Council has warned ‘no local authority can subsidise a Premier League football club’ amid an escalating row over Nottingham Forest FC’s iconic stadium.

The council, which declared itself effectively bankrupt in November, today urged Nottingham Forest FC to re-engage in talks over extending the lease for the club’s City Ground.
