Cornwall Council leader Leigh Frost has urged the public to back a petition recognising Cornwall as the UK’s fifth nation.

A majority of Cornwall Council members backed a motion in July calling on the Government to formally recognise Cornwall as the fifth nation of the UK.

A petition calling for formal recognition of Cornwall as a nation, granting it equal status to Wales and Scotland, has got over 23,000 signatures.

Cllr Frost said: 'We’re not just a corner of England at the end of the train line. Cornwall is a strong, proud Celtic nation.'
