The Government has announced an £18m funding boost to support the roll out of early intervention child protection reforms to councils in England.
The extra funding will help local authorities adopt the Family Group Decision Making approach, which involves working with extended family members to help keep children at home rather than in care.
The injection of cash will also help the roll out of thousands more family help workers to provide earlier support for families experiencing challenges, such as substance misuse or poor mental health.
Children and Families Minister Janet Daby: ‘We’re putting an end to sticking plaster solutions through our Plan for Change by investing even more focus and funding into preventative services and information sharing.’
