Council chiefs have backed proposals that would place a duty on local authorities to collect data and report on staffing, pay and outcomes by ethnicity.

A draft race equality Act put forward by Labour would include mandating ethnicity pay gap reporting that would ‘mirror’ gender pay gap reporting.
