Curbs on social care agencies have been put forward as solutions to Bradford Council’s soaring staffing costs.

A report to the council’s executive meeting next week said a reliance on agency staff was one of the key drivers behind a £68m budget gap for the current financial year across the council and Bradford Children’s and Families Trust.

Agency staff account for 47% of the social work workforce currently in Bradford, compared to a figure of 18% nationally, according to the report.
