Budget: Over £240m for Canary Wharf housing announced

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt today announced £242m to deliver thousands of houses in Barking Riverside and Canary Wharf.

The investment will help deliver an estimated 8,000 houses, the Chancellor said in his Budget.

According to Mr Hunt, the investment will transform Canary Wharf into a hub for life science companies.

A new £20m investment in social finance to build up to 3,000 new homes and improve the capacity of local community groups to deliver housing was also announced.
