Birmingham City Council has confirmed that school holiday meal vouchers will no longer be provided by the local authority.

The city council introduced the scheme during the pandemic to help ensure all children, regardless of their economic circumstances, had access to a healthy meal.

The first allocation was funded by the council in March 2020, with all subsequent allocations – up to and including Christmas 2021 – funded through Government grants.

A Birmingham City Council spokesperson said: ‘We are providing a range of free holiday activities and meals through Bring It On Brum, most of which are at schools and sports centres on public transport routes.

‘However, we understand that some families may not be able to attend in person, so we are also providing activity packs and food boxes for those eligible for free school meals.’
