Bartec Systems brings Wi-Fi to the waste sector

Waste industry software provider, Bartec Systems Ltd, are introducing innovative wireless technology (Wi-Fi) to track municipal and commercial waste from doorstep to disposal. Wi-Fi technology is entirely compatible with mobile waste collection and recycling operations, enabling efficient real time tracking and reporting.


Bartec Systems’ use of Wi-Fi runs alongside the roll out of wireless infrastructure by major telecom companies across key UK cities, which include Westminster, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool, all expected to be up and running by 2007.


Bartec intend to offer Wi-Fi as an alternative to Radio Frequency technology for Waste Collector LiveTrack! , the company’s system that combines waste and operator monitoring and vehicle tracking and which is already in use at Tamworth Borough Council.


“Waste Collector LiveTrack! is ideal for Local Authorities and waste management service providers who need a highly visible means of reporting waste collection activity and workflow management. The system uses barcoding and tagging methods, automatically transmitting data to enable effective and rapid decision making,” Tim Hobbs, MD of Bartec told LAPV.


Bartec Systems is an active player in the waste management sector with its stock control management system Waste Controller and has produced a number of telematic solutions.
