Birmingham City Council has called on the Government to consider its pilot scheme to help bridge the gap for those coming off benefits and into work.
As the Government outlines it plans for welfare reform, the council welcomed the proposals and published the findings of its own pilot scheme.
The council’s two-year package, using Working Neighbourhoods Fund money, sees those who return to jobs given financial support for up to 12 weeks to help them through the transition into the world of work.
