Unison has advised local authority employees to reject an offer of a pay increase of at least £1,290.
The trade union described the offer as ‘disappointing’ and said it ‘falls short of the level council and school workers deserve.’
The union will consult its members to assess their views of last week’s offer, with a recommendation they vote to reject it.
Unison head of local government Mike Short said: ‘Staff have seen the value of their pay plummet, while often being asked to do even more. They provide vital services to their communities by supporting the most vulnerable, educating children and keeping people safe.
‘Council and school workers need a pay rise that reflects this.’
