The launch of the 2020 Street Design Awards

The Street Design Awards 2020 have now been launched to celebrate best practice and innovation across the UK.

The awards, organised by Local Government News magazine, are completely free to enter and will close for entries on Friday February 28th 2020.

This year also sees the launch of a new category to promote the good work being done by councils to promote walking and cycling in their local communities: Active Travel.

The Awards are divided into five categories:

• Urban Green Space
• Children’s Play
• Public Lighting
• Pedestrian Environment
• Active Travel

All tiers of local government are eligible to enter the awards. Private sector partners, ALMOs, tenants groups and third sector partners can also enter the awards, although they must obtain the local council’s permission first.

All schemes must have been completed within two years of entering the awards. Entrants will be judged on the overall design of the scheme, the quality and choice of materials used and what the project has achieved within the set budget.

The awards are supported by and judged by the Institution of Lighting Professionals, the Landscape Institute, Play England, and Highways magazine.

The closing date for entries is 28th February 2020. To enter online please visit: streetdesign.localgov.co.uk
