Proposals for new towns on more than 100 sites across England have been submitted as part of what the Prime Minister calls the ‘largest housebuilding programme since the post-war era.’

Each of the new towns will have the potential to deliver 10,000 homes and will be ‘well-designed, beautiful communities with affordable housing’, according to the Government.

‘This is about more than just bricks and mortar. It’s about the security and stability that owning your own home brings,’ said Sir Keir Starmer.

‘I know what this means for working people – the roof above our head was everything for our family growing up.’

The final decision of which of the new sites will be selected will reportedly be revealed in summer.

Starmer has also pledged to resolve regulatory disputes and to support housebuilders and councils to unlock around 700,000 new homes.
