Salford City Council is set to discuss proposals for the third tallest skyscraper in the UK.
Councillors will convene on Thursday to discuss development plans for the 78-storey building, which is part of the £1bn regeneration project proposed for Regent Retail Park, according to the BBC.
The Regent Retail Park scheme is expected to deliver 3,300 homes, as well as increased commercial areas and public space to benefit the community.
Whilst the project is designed to help provide affordable housing, the council has purportedly received over 450 objections in response to the plans.
According to Salford MP Rebecca Long-Bailey, the scheme ‘won't help with the loss of shops, existing employment and parking, and will drastically impact Salford's skyline’.
