Renters Rights Bill to extend homelessness prevention duty image

Councils' homelessness prevention duty to evicted tenants could be extended from 56 to 147 days or more under the Renters' Rights Bill.

The legislation currently making its way through Parliament will abolish section 21 no-fault evictions but landlords will still be able to push out tenants in certain circumstances, such as a landlord's family moving in or the property being sold, under so-called section 8.
