Questions over link between welfare and rent increases

Unfreezing housing benefits would not drive increasing rents, according to newly-published analysis.

The Government is set to announce whether it will continue the freeze on Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates from April amid claims from Prime Minister Andy Burnham that the housing benefit system is being ‘forced to chase rents in the private rented sector'.
