A landlord has been threatened with legal action by the local council after he commissioned a painting of a bull on the side of his 17th century pub.
Stratford-upon-Avon District Council told Martin Peel, the owner of The Bull's Head in Warwickshire, that the mural breached planning rules for listed properties.
Mr Peel now has one month to paint over the mural before facing legal action.
‘I was naive not to realise painting also came under planning. That is the truth. I lived in Asia for 20 years and have never owned a property in the UK,’ Mr Peel told the BBC.
The council has been contacted for comment.
