The re-elected leader of the Local Government Association’s (LGA) independents has rejected the idea of a breakaway Green group.
Lincolnshire CC councillor Marianne Overton, who has already led the independent group for more than a decade, said: ‘The independent group does make sure that all of our constituent parties and independents get their fair share of positions and training opportunities so there would be no advantage of a separate group in that way.
'As it is, our larger combined group has two seats on each board and creates a sizeable force within the LGA.
