Sensors have been installed across Newport to inform residents about the level of air pollution.
Newport City Council is the first UK local authority to install the Eco Post air sensors, which use a coloured light display to demonstrate whether pollution is low, moderate, high or very high.
The sensors, which check for nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, have been installed in five locations so far, with one more to come.
Cabinet member for climate change Yvonne Forsey said: ‘We’re hopeful that the sensors will encourage people to think about the air quality in their area, and how they can make choices that help keep pollution levels low.’
