Councillors have recommended Dave Stubbs becomes the next chief executive at Hartlepool BC.
A cross-party panel will recommend Mr Stubbs’ appointment to a full council meeting on 18 October.
Mr Stubbs has worked at Hartlepool BC for more than 40 years and is currently director of regeneration.
He replaces Nicola Bailey, who has been acting chief executive since the retirement of former top officer, Paul Walker, who left last year.
Ms Bailey is set to leave the local authority to take up a job with the NHS.
‘It’s a great honour to be recommended for the role of chief executive having spent all of my working life with Hartlepool BC,’ said Mr Stubbs.
