Former Oldham MBC leader Jim McMahon as been appointed as a minister in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

He is expected to take on the local government brief in Keir Starmer's new Government. Former shadow housing minister, Matthew Pennycook, has also been announced as a minister in the department which will be headed up by secretary of state Angela Rayner.
