Mayrise satellite maps highways defects


Mayrise Systems has added satellite positioning to its mobile highways inspections and asset mapping systems.  Street maps displayed on GPS equipped PDAs are location-centred allowing highways inspectors and surveyors to accurately record the locations of highways defects and assets.
 
The mobile systems link to central management systems via mobile phone networks and provide an ideal way of updating records direct from the field.  For critical highways defects such as potholes and loose paving slabs, the live reporting and GPS-aided mapping helps to speed up response by maintenance contractors.
 
The PDAs run MAYRISE Mobile MapNow® software which allows maps to be viewed and updated in the field and then synchronised with back office mapping.  Digital maps and asset overlays covering an entire region can be stored on a high capacity memory cards for use on any compatible device.  
 
The inspection reports are received by a central MAYRISE™ Highways system that holds asset information, street gazetteer, maps and records of all defects.  Maintenance schedules and details of any complaints received from the public are transmitted automatically from this central system, updating each inspector’s PDA together with inspection sequenced route maps.          
 
Electronic reporting cuts considerable amounts of paperwork, eliminating the keying in of reports, as well as allowing more consistent and accurate reporting.  With wireless interchange of data, inspectors and surveyors can undertake all their work without returning to the office.
 
MAYRISE Highways automates client service functions and simplifies the management of highways maintenance contracts, recording defects and generating schedules for cyclic maintenance using a street gazetteer. The system also provides contractor and remote sites access, integration with street works systems, and XML web schemas for linking to contact centres and e-government services.
