Mayor Richard Parker has opened a new base in Wolverhampton to strengthen engagement with communities across the Black Country.
The ‘Collab Hub’, located in the Wolverhampton Civic Centre, has been launched on a trial basis through an agreement between the Mayor, the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), and Wolverhampton City Council.
The hub will allow WMCA staff to work more closely with council colleagues and partners on projects aimed at improving local living standards.
Provided free of charge by the council, the trial will help assess how such local hubs can support the delivery of WMCA projects. If successful, the model could be extended to other parts of the West Midlands.
The Mayor said: ‘This Collab Hub is about working shoulder to shoulder with our local councils and others to bring real change for local people quickly and effectively.’
Cllr Stephen Simkins, City of Wolverhampton Council leader, said: ‘We look forward to welcoming the Mayor and WMCA colleagues to the Civic Centre, demonstrating once again the collaborative nature of how we work as a council.’
