Dorset Council is set to pursue plans for a major solar farm on a council-owned site near Weymouth, under new proposals outlined in a report to its cabinet.
To take the project forward, Dorset Council is forming a strategic partnership with renewable energy developer Source Galileo. The collaboration will not only focus on the Weymouth site but also assess the potential for solar and other renewable generation across the council’s wider property portfolio, including car parks and other assets.
If approved, the scheme could make a significant contribution to Dorset’s carbon reduction targets and energy resilience, while generating income to support local services.
