Preparation work for the demolition of Grenfell Tower is expected to begin in August, the Government has confirmed.

An update from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has confirmed work to ‘carefully take down’ Grenfell could begin in September.

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner wrote to families who lost loved ones in the Grenfell Tower fire in February to explain the building would be ‘sensitively’ taken down.

MHCLG estimates the demolition of the tower, which will take place beneath wrapping, will take two years.
