Loxston Groundcare

Supplied by Loxston Groundcare, UK distributor for the IRUS product range, Godalming based contractors, Thompson Estate Maintenance have recently acquired their latest remote controlled, Kubota powered, 38hp, Irus Deltrak 2.0 mower/tool carrier.

Jamie Thompson said, “our cutting contracts include the Highways Agency, M25 (Junctions 1-16) Heathrow T5 and M4 spur, all calling for speed and efficiency, and Deltrak has supplied that since 2007 when we had our first model, by dramatically increasing productivity. Deltrak gives us consistent cut quality, can work on slopes of up to 50° for extended periods of time and is constantly cutting in every direction of travel, all of which results in time and labour savings. It has also eliminated any potential operative hand/arm vibration issues by replacing strimmers.

With the Deltrak 2.0 we can cut the M4 spur site in just three days and in excess of one acre in a morning at Terminal 5. The compact dimensions also give us time and cost savings when arriving and leaving site and when in transit. Attachments we use include our own-design tree stump grinder to remove roots whilst preserving structural integrity on steep banking, and a forestry head. The Deltrak 2.0 is a ‘must have’ machine for our business”

Peter Loxston added “The new 2.0 version of the Deltrak is the most developed machine currently on the market. A host of improvements include self-cleaning radiator, improved track carriage, increased frame strength, improved stepper motors and transmission valves, plus transmitter and receiver improvements, all combining to give the user a very low impact, high performance machine.

Why age alone shouldn’t define local government leadership

Age should never define leadership in local government, says Graeme McDonald, Managing Director of Solace. Instead, councils should invest in inclusive, skills-based development for officers and councillors to deliver effective public services.
