Lancaster to explore combined authority proposal

Lancaster is considering proposals to set up a county-wide combined authority.

Lancashire’s 15 local councils have agreed to seek support from their councillors to develop the proposals further. The councils said a combined authority would enable them to work together on strategic issues around transport, regeneration and economic growth.

The councils have made the decision to explore the possibility of a combined authority following the government granting new powers to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The councils involved include Lancashire County Council, 12 district councils and the unitary councils for Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen.
