LGA chief departs

Local Government Association chief executive Mark Lloyd will be leaving with immediate effect, the association has announced.

Mr Lloyd has been in post for eight years, and previously held the chief executive’s role at Cambridgeshire and Durham CCs.

Last month, The MJ reported the political leadership of the LGA was keen for a change in chief executive in a bid to boost the organisation’s lobbying power in the run up to the election.

Mr Lloyd said: ‘This is the best job in local government but now is the right time for me to hand over the LGA for someone to build on the achievements we have delivered and the progress we have made.
