Kingston Council signs £10m deal with Lidl

Kingston Council has made a £10m deal with Lidl, which will see the budget supermarket move its UK headquarters to Tolworth.

As part of the agreement, Lidl will build a new office building on council-owned land and will move 500 jobs into the area.

Cllr Kevin Davis, leader of Kingston Council, said: 'We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Lidl for a plot of council-owned land in a prime location that is currently being underutilised.

'Lidl is a blue-chip company with ambitious expansion plans. Having them headquartered in our borough will provide a huge boost to the local economy and employment market. It also sends out a clear message that the borough of Kingston is a good place to do business.'
