Kent councils sign District Deal

Two councils in Kent have signed an agreement to work together on delivering key strategic projects.

Ashford Borough Council and Kent County Council have signed a new District Deal to increase joint working between the two councils.

The Ashford District Deal identifies eight key projects that the councils will both focus on to unlock investment opportunities and drive economic growth.

Leader of Ashford Borough Council, Cllr Gerry Clarkson, said: ‘This is a marvellous opportunity to work closely with our county colleagues. This is the first Delivery Deal in Kent and I am delighted that this council is once again jointly pioneering new approaches to delivering projects and services for the people of Ashford in the best and most efficient way possible.'

Leader of Kent County Council, Cllr Paul Carter, said: 'The eight key projects we can deliver together will help realise the ambitious growth plan for Ashford and unlock investment opportunities, which will benefit not only the borough of Ashford but Kent as a whole.'
