Hackney chief steps back from duties

Hackney LBC chief executive Mark Carroll has announced he will be stepping back from his council duties to attend to family matters.

Mr Carroll started in the job in October 2021, joining from Essex CC where he was executive director for place and public health. Prior to Essex, he held a number of roles as a senior civil servant.

He replaced outgoing chief executive Tim Shields, who retired after 13 years in the role.
