Two councillors have been elected as co-deputy leaders of the national Green Party.

Wealden district councillor Rachel Millward and Leeds councillor Mothin Ali were both this week elected co-deputy leader of the Greens.

In a social media post, Cllr Millward said: ‘WE DID IT!!! Huge thanks to everyone who voted for me, and to those who supported this campaign in so many different ways – it is all massively appreciated. What an absolute honour this is. I can’t wait to get on with the work! Thank you.’

Cllr Ali said: ‘We did it — I’m honoured to be elected as Co-Deputy Leader of the Green Party! Thank you to everyone who believed in this campaign, voted, and worked so hard to make this possible. This victory belongs to all of us.’
