Government seeks Prevent programme answers after Southport attack image

Reforms to the Prevent programme are to be unveiled this week ahead of a public inquiry looking at why it failed to stop last year's fatal Southport knife attack.

Home secretary Yvette Cooper has confirmed Axel Rudakubana was referred to the counter-terrorism programme three times before launching the attack that claimed the lives of Alice da Silva Aguiar, 9, Bebe King, 6, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7.
