Local government secretary Michael Gove has given the green light for a probe into Teesworks corruption claims.
The National Audit Office had been urged to conduct an investigation following claims from Labour MPs that private developers were profiting from millions of pounds of public assets from a major transformation project of the former Redcar Steelworks site.
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, who is leading the redevelopment project, had requested the probe to clear his name of any wrongdoing.
