Gloucestershire County Council has named six primary schools that will see solar panels installed.

The solar panels will generate average estimated annual savings of £4,360 per school and are expected to last at least 20 years.

Cllr Stephen Davies, leader of the council, said: ‘This is part of our ongoing commitment to solar power in the county, and brings cost-saving, cleaner, greener energy to schools across Gloucestershire.’

The schools are as follows:

• Castle Hill Primary School in Brockworth

• Eastington Primary School in Churchend

• Holy Trinity Primary School in Cheltenham

• Northleach Primary School in Northleach

• Soudley School in Soudley

• Tredworth Junior School in Gloucester
