A project to convert a vacant city centre building into ‘Grade A’ managed office space has been granted £1.5m.
The funding comes from Hull City Council’s allocation of levelling up funding and the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP).
It contributes to Allenby Commercial’s £6.5m project to redevelop Monocle, formerly Europa House, into five floors of offices with commercial space at ground level.
Allenby Commercial managing director Andrew Allenby said: ‘All of our projects are focused on creating jobs in our home city by regenerating sites which were in danger of being forgotten and we are delighted Hull City Council and HEY LEP are able to support us with this particular project.’
Work is expected to start soon and be completed in November 2025. Hull City Council portfolio holder for regeneration, Paul Drake-Davis, said: ‘The former Europa House building is a prominent and key property in the city centre which has stood dilapidated for many years.
‘This is another important step forward in the regeneration of Hull city centre, once again supported by levelling up funding.’
HEY LEP chair James Newman said: ‘This project will be an important addition to ensuring that Hull city centre continues to develop and will attract new businesses to the city.’
