Crown Trade

A Midlands-based housing association turned to Crown Trade Fastflow to deliver a splash of colour, with a low odour application and fast-drying times for the comfort and convenience of residents.

Lyng Community Association, a not-for-profit organisation, brought in Crown Paints to specify the pioneering water-based system for the redecoration of corridors in three blocks of flats in West Bromwich.

Doors, window sills and skirting boards were decorated with Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss, over Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat.

The work was carried out by Hankinson Painting Contractors from their West Bromwich site and also included the application of Crown Trade Clean Extreme Scrubbable Matt for the corridor walls.

The tenants of each building were consulted on the colour scheme and voted for their favourites – with a mix of burgundy, blue and green shades applied.

Tony Nash, Chief Executive of Lyng Community Association – which has 200 properties in the West Bromwich area, said: “I’d previously done some work with Crown Paints, so they were the first port of call.

“They managed the project for us in terms of colour choices and what would work best and they were a really useful partner in the process of getting the work done and keeping the tenants satisfied.

“Crown Trade Fastflow is really good and we were pleased with the lack of odour and the speed the paint dried.”

Since its launch two years ago, Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss has built-up a following in the specification sector as the ideal choice where a low odour and quick drying product is required. The range has recently been extended with the successful introduction of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin earlier this year.

Sharon Smith, Crown Paints Trade Communications Manager, said: “The Crown Trade Fastflow range represents a break-through in innovation, with all the reassurance of our experience and heritage, which stretches back more than 200 years.”

“It features advanced water based technology which offers the characteristics of a traditional solvent-based product - with the benefits of a water-based formulation.

“Specifiers are increasingly recognising its qualities, including a highly professional finish with a low odour, as well as slower yellowing when compared to traditional alkyd systems.

“Due to its fast-drying qualities, two coats can be applied in one day, therefore reducing time and labour costs – a crucial factor for both public and private sector specification projects.

“Furthermore, of major significance is the fact it has also been manufactured to Crown’s renowned Breatheasy® formulation, which means it is 99 per cent solvent free - a key attribute which today’s specification customers are increasingly requesting.”
