Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy is urging councils across England to take part in Fight Fly-Tipping Fortnight, a new national campaign launching in November to tackle the growing problem of waste crime.

The initiative aims to expose the role of rogue ‘white van’ operators offering cheap waste disposal that often leads to illegal dumping. It also seeks to educate residents about their legal duty of care and the simple steps they can take to prevent waste crime.

More than a million fly-tipping incidents are reported each year in England, costing local authorities up to £150m annually in clean-up and enforcement costs.

Keep Britain Tidy is inviting local authorities to sign up for a media toolkit with resources to raise awareness, engage residents, and support stronger policy action. A webinar for councils will take place on 15 October to share campaign details and encourage collaboration.
