The Government’s guidance on fire safety after the Grenfell Tower fire has been ‘mediocre,’ ‘contradictory,’ ‘disjointed’ or non-existent, councils have said in response to a Labour survey.
A total of 28 Labour councils were surveyed by the party on how helpful the Government was in providing guidance on financial issues and other matters after the fire.
Ten out of 12 councils with financial concerns claimed the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) offered insufficient or poor support.
One council, which said it would need £31m to remedy all areas of concern, was ‘unsure what to believe’ since the Government’s guidance kept changing.
