Councillor resigns after abandoning a Danish Legoland conference because he was unhappy with his accommodation.
Aberdeenshire Council’s co-leader Martin Kitts-Hayes handed in his resignation on Wednesday after walking out on the trip which cost nearly £3400.
Cllr Kitts-Hayes had planned to step down as co-leader and as the chair of the policy and resources committee while remaining a councillor.
In a statement made at the time, Aberdeenshire’s chief executive Jim Savege said: ‘I can confirm that yesterday I received notification from Cllr Kitts-Hayes of his intention to resign from his post as co-leader of the council and chair of the policy and resources committee.’
However, earlier this week Cllr Kitts-Hayes changed his mind and has resigned from the council.
He has been replaced as chair of the policy and resources committee by Cllr Richard Thomson.
